Having been accepted at the age of 16, I studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow. My first study was Flute and I worked mainly with John Wiggins and Richard Chester. After four years of study, I obtained a BA Music Performance and an Advanced Diploma in Harmony & Composition. While there, I did a lot of ensemble and solo work. I also premiered several works including Sonata for Flute by John Weeks (who was a professor at the college).
I have also read for a Postgraduate MA in Psychology for Musicians (Sheffield University) and graduated in January 2003.
I now lead a varied musical life performing, teaching, coaching, adjudicating and examining as a specialist woodwind examiner as well as doing general music research.
Current Employment
I work as a freelance Flautist and I also work as a freelance adjudicator, music typesetter and ensemble coach.
I also perform regularly on the Clarsach
What am I up to just now?
Re-training as a Primary teacher - doing a PGDE at Jordanhill, Strathclyde University.
Thank you for calling in to see me. Please come again soon.
